Soldier's French Memorial Certificate and 3 letters from various training camps in the U.S. to back home.
The French memorial certificates were given to the families of American Servicemen killed in action. The top legend translates as: “Those who have nobly died for the Fatherland have earned the right to the multitudes coming and praying at their graves”.
    The bottom legend translates as:

names and details hand written in fountain pen by the French Government. The certificate was produced by the Paris jeweler "Cartier" as marked on the lower left corner. This certificate is seldom encountered. The certificate measures 10 3/8” by 17 1/4” and is in good condition with some light cracks, repairs, wrinkles. Their is a split in the center separating the top from the bottom that can be repaired. (please see pictures). The paper is moderately thick and slightly discolored but still strong. Also included are 3 original letters from the same heroic soldier back home while in two training camps leading up till his time overseas ; (1) Camp Stuart Newport News Virginia, (2) Camp McClellan Anniston Alabama. The 3 letters are in good condition
with some partial splits, tape repairs, wrinkles.
The conditions of all 4 parts of the grouping are consistent with their 103 years. The " First New Jersey " was active in the WW1 battles in France :
